Portugal walks along the edge of Europe. The Atlantic coast is its long artery: cliffs, dunes and beaches from the Spanish border down to the Algarve, with fishermen's paths from village to village.

Inland lie the Serra da Estrela with granite and wolves, Peneda-Gerês with oak wood and old droves, and the cork oak and olive groves of the Alentejo. The north is wet and green, the south dry and empty.

Walk from March to June and in September and October.
